What is a Storyverse?

With Cryptovania, we propose the concept of a "storyverse" -- a novel structure for telling decentralized, interactive stories as a community. Every member of the Crypotovania community has a story to tell -- others in the community confirm these stories, and each member's contribution is a prompt for all other storytellers. The goal of the storyverse is to build an intricate, shared, imaginary universe.

Many Web3 projects today focus on building their universes in virtual reality. These "metaverses" are typically centrally developed, technically difficult to deliver, and hard to access.

Cryptovania is a return to the fundamentals of storytelling, so our universe begins with the original Web1 mediums - plain text and images. Simple stories and illustrations are a rich and maximally accessible design space that can be developed in a truly decentralized way, and have existed for generations. We hope our concept of the storyverse will become a foundational Web3 primitive.

Cryptovania is set in the dark forests of Bran, but a storyverse can take place anywhere. Outer space? The bottom of the ocean? The center of the Earth? Go for it! A storyverse only needs to be launched and embraced by its community. With that, we encourage any artist, developer, community-builder, or collector to take anything they like about Cryptovania and use it as inspiration to build their own storyverse.
